Admissions

Thank you for showing an interest in Edenglen Primary School as the school to which you would like to send your child.

Grade 1 2024: Apply online at gdeadmissions.gov.za.  The date given for Grade 1 Admissions is June 15, 2023 at 8am and the closing date is July 21, 2023 at midnight. On successful completion you will receive a reference number and a confirmation SMS.

Inner grades (Gr2-7) applications for 2024 opened on the 1st of July 2023 and will close on 29 September 2023. Applications will re-open on the 18th of January 2024 for 2024 applications only. 2025 Applications will be announced.

Please hand the completed  form, and the certified undernoted supporting documents, to the School’s Admission Administrator, Mrs. Deborah Scrooby. These MUST NOT be emailed. 

YOUR EMAIL IS CRITICAL WHEN APPLYING AS ALL FURTHER COMMUNICATION WILL COME TO YOU VIA EMAIL. 

 

Incomplete forms and missing documents will delay you been placed onto the waiting list.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

• ID photo of learner x1 (colour)

• Certified copy of ID/Birth Certificate

• Certified copies of ID’s of both parents

• Legal guardianship paperwork if not biological parent

• Proof of Home Address:

Homeowners:​

•  Municipal account not older than 3 months in the name of the applicant/parent bearing the full residential address.

Tenants / Renters​​

• Municipal account not older than 3 months in the name of the landlord (home owner) bearing the full physical              address; And​

• The following documents

  • Lease agreement signed by the landlord and tenant, bearing the full physical residential address; And​

  • Rental payment receipt with full physical residential address not older than 3 months; And

  • Statement of any account in the name of the applicant/parent bearing the full physical residential address not older than 3 months

• Letter from Employer —if applying with a work address

• Non-South African citizens — Certified copies of work permit and learners' study permit

• Grade 2-7 latest School Report

• Immunisation/Clinic Card

• Transfer card (Grades 2-7) - REQUIRED ONLY ON PLACEMENT

Preference will be given to the learners residing in the feeder zone. Only once all these learners are placed, will consideration be given to others.

Waiting List – All new applications are placed on a waiting list and parents will be notified when space is available this is generally only done by October as applications only close at the end of September.  Regretfully, there may not be availability for all learners as Edenglen Primary School is a high-pressure school, receiving more applicants that the school is able to accommodate. Reminder in order for a learner to be placed a learner needs to leave.
